Why Dry needle?

Dry Needling may be done in a Massage session to assist with pain management. However it might be that we just need a follow up treatment of 30 minutes which also suit people who are short on time.

What is dry needling?

Dry Needling is one of the many things an Acupuncturist may do. It is NOT acupuncture unless used in unison with needles being placed at acupoints. As a Massage Therapist I will use the needles to release tension in muscular areas that are contributing to pain. It is used as a form of pain management.

How is it applied?

It is applied either before or after the deep tissue massage depending on what I feel is going on for the client. The area is cleaned and an acupuncture needle will be inserted. It is usually painless although you may feel a slight sensation depending again on what is happening in that area. The sensation may be sharp or dull or quite often just yur mind playing tricks!

How does it work?

It works by calming the nervous system. I explain to my clients that the bodys initial reaction is of shock, the brain soon senses all is well and as it calms down the muscles release. The nervous system is forced to relax and in turn the muscular system follows suit. Its a beautiful reaction of chain events.
